Safdie Architects is seeking an experienced Design Architect, with at least 8 – 10 years experience, for its international practice based in Somerville, MA. Headquartered in Somerville, MA with offices in Toronto, Jerusalem, Singapore and Shanghai to support ongoing projects, Safdie...The Design Architect works directly with Moshe Safdie and the firm’s Principals to develop design concepts and architectural ideas and is responsible for organizing and coordinating all members of the design team. They must be able to effectively supervise and lead teams of junior architects, have demonstrated experience developing and maintaining communication between architects and consultants and a strong knowledge of the design and detailing of complex projects. This person will oversee the project from design through completion, serving as the firm’s primary liaison to the client and will function as a design advocate, ensuring that assigned projects achieve goals related to project quality and process.

In addition to an aptitude for design and superior problem-solving, candidates must be highly motivated, have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and possess a willingness to assume both project-wide and office-related responsibility. Bilingual Mandarin/English speaking candidates, who have carried projects through to completion in China, are preferred.
